Residential Visits
Our signature curriculum not only includes the formal requirements but also rich and deep educational visit and residentials that we carefully plan to enrich the learning experience.
Our enrichment activities are organised on a termly basis and reviewed regularly by the school council and student population. We know that this time away with friends, developing made. We pride ourselves on the longstanding residential visits that children are provided with from Year 2 to Year 6 inclusive.
Opportunities including den building, campfires, immersive detective adventures and even scooter safaris to learn orienteering skills. These are also further supplemented by engagement in purposeful educational day visits to support learning across the curriculum, including seaside visits, theatre trips, animal experiences and museum trips.
Chapelford Village Primary School reserves the right to change the visits outlined above in line with Year Group Long term plans.
In Year 5, we go over the border into Wales for a 2 day / 1 night visit to Llandudno.
On our way to the centre of town we stop at either the Greenwood Centre, or the Welsh Mountain Zoo - where we get to spend some time with nature.
When we arrive at Llandudno Hostel, we have a hearty meal before an evening on the beach playing different games, and feeling the sand in between our toes!
On the second day of our trip, we consolidate our History and Geography learning with a trip up the Great Orme on the tram, firstly stopping of a the Bronze mines for a lesson in how the Great Orme was found to house one of the oldest known Bronze mines in the UK. We then travel to the top of the Great Orme, taking in the views before we trek back down - via the local ski centre for some tubing and tobogganing!
Some great first experiences are available to all of our children during this residential stay.
In Autumn term, we take our Year 6 pupils on a team building and resilience trip to Robinwood, Maes-y-Nant, Cross Lanes, Wrexham.
During this residential over 3 days and 2 nights our children experience a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pursuits, testing their physical and mental resilience.
We find the trip is great to bring the classes together, in this important final year of Primary School.
