It has certainly begun to feel very festive at Chapelford this week! The 1st of December brought an abundance of Christmas cheer and excitement throughout school. While our important learning continues, for example many classes are now reaching the end of their writing units and preparing to apply their knowledge and skills to their final pieces, we have also embraced the joy and magic of the festive season.

Our week began with the official decorating and lighting of our school Christmas trees. Our Head Boy and Head Girl enjoyed a special trip to Kenyon Hall Farm, where they carefully selected our beautiful trees. Every child then helped to decorate them with lovingly crafted handmade decorations. The trees were lit during our assemblies, accompanied by some wonderful singing of traditional Christmas songs, which is definitely a highlight of being in a primary school at this time of year!

As part of our annual festive celebrations, each year group is learning a selection of Christmas songs and hymns to perform to parents during our Festive Greetings performance, which takes place during collection time on an allocated day. We warmly invite you to join us, enjoy the performances and support our school PTA, who will be selling delicious hot drinks and mince pies. What better way to get into the Christmas spirit?

Today, all the children took part in our sponsored Elf & Reindeer Run in support of St. Rocco’s Hospice, which is an organisation close to the hearts of many in our community. This event is a fantastic way to keep active, have fun and teach children about the impact they can make through fundraising. St. Rocco’s relies heavily on the generosity of the Warrington community and school events like these play a huge part in helping them continue their work with families affected by life-limiting illnesses. We are so proud of the children's enthusiasm and cannot wait to total up the donations and share the final amount raised; stay tuned!

The festive fun doesn’t stop there… We still have the Christmas discos, the EYFS nativity, Christmas party day and Christmas dinner day to look forward to. Please check all dates carefully, and as always, contact the school office if you have any questions.

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the festive season!
