This week at CCVPS, we have been reflecting on the importance of Remembrance — taking time to learn about and honour those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts, both in the past and today.

Each year group has begun exploring the life of a significant individual linked to wartime history, learning about their bravery, resilience, and compassion:

EYFS – Sergeant Stubby
 Year 1 – Jack Cornwell
 Year 2 – Walter Tull
 Year 3 – Winston Churchill
Year 4 – Edith Cavell
 Year 5 – Nancy Wake
Year 6 – Alan Turing

Children have already been busy creating artwork, writing pieces, and presentations, and will continue their projects over the next few days — deepening their understanding of peace, courage, sacrifice, and hope.

Today, we came together as a whole school to observe a two-minute silence, showing great respect and gratitude for those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

These activities support our pupils develop a deeper understanding of Remembrance and the British Values it represents including respect, tolerance and a strong sense of community. We look forward to continuing our Remembrance activities throughout the week and sharing their thoughtful work in Friday’s celebration assembly.
