Year 3 Farmer Visit

Year 3 were lucky enough to receive a visit from Ryecroft Rarebreeds Farm as part of their Careers Week learning. Farmer Jayne and Farmer Lucy discussed what life as a farmer is like and what responsibilities they have.
The children completed an experiment to test the soil quality on the farm and learned about the different grasses and drainage. They were able to link this learning to their previous Science learning and knowledge of rocks and soil.
As part of the learning during Careers Week, the children found out more about farming and how scarecrows originate from Ancient Egyptian times. They created a scarecrow per class today and had to use the school values to work as a team and complete the challenge.
Look out for our scarecrows around school!
